How much do you pay for health benefits (medical+dental+prescription)per month? Note if it is single/spouse/family rate & type (PPO, HMO, HDHP). Me-$130 per month for employee + spouse for a PPO plan

Another one of my friends was laid off today :/ On the plus side, their company is giving them full pay & health benefits for four months & letting them keep any equipment they had. (100% not an ad agency.) I’m so bummed for them, but honestly I’m secretly low key jealous and wish I could just take a sabbatical from my agency job with that sort of severance package. I’m grateful for my job during this time, but this industry is burning me out. I can’t remember the last time I was happy.

I have a side business and I generated 200K net profit from it this year. I expect to have a slightly higher profits in 2021. I also make around 200K including bonus from my job.

We are also expecting our third kid and it still feels very hard to give up on our health insurance and security of the pay check. Because of that, I can’t focus on growing my own business.

Any suggestions? Have any of you had similar experience? Is the optimum solution grinding at work and grow the business?

Needed a new roof and hired a carpenter. He stops by my office to pick up paperwork and asks me about my retirement plans. I find out he has about a million in his 401k.

Can you get MBA tuition reimbursement if you’re a Digital Strategy Analyst? Or, do you need to be baptized as a pure Strategy Analyst?

1) Firm provides AD&D of $20k at no cost. Can purchase voluntary AD&D up to $500,000 for $3.50/pp.

2) Group LTD 60% replacement of first $150,000 of earnings for $4.57/pp.

Inexpensive I know, but is this worth it for me? Or are these future considerations?

Which would you choose and why?
1) FP&A at a bank
2) Portfolio Analytics at PE

I personally want to move towards FP&A bc I think it’s more interesting & transferable. But the benefits + pay is so much better at the PE firm. I think I will be happier working at the PE firm, but I think FP&A is more transferable if I were to leave (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong).

Getting an offer from start up- base they are matching - they have no 401k match, no Bonus but they are giving me stock options at 0.2% of today's equity. Is it reasonable

How old are you and how much do you have in your 401k?

So I got an offer from Accenture for only 10% salary bump and 30k sign on bonus. Salary increase is obviously not enticing especially since I might get it at my current job this year. But Accenture’s 401k is much better than what my company offers and the ESPP program sounds like a good benefit. Their health insurance seems to be slightly better too. Is it stupid of me to want to jump because of the benefits they have that may compensate for the salary?

Keeping all things constant (pay, salary, benefits, location etc.) Not factoring in team at the moment because that changed the experience, but just based on company and role.

Here’s some shit: I’m staff level (career change, so a few years older than most staff). My 19 yo stepchild got laid off temporarily from their skilled trade job and is able to draw unemployment. They still live with their mom and I provide their healthcare as the stepmom married to their father. Stepchild just got first unemployment check and is making 2x their normal pay. Making more than me (!) while I continue to provide their health insurance. What. the. actual. fuck.

In terms of salary and benefit package negotiations, can I negotiate the amount of time before the company will start tuition reimbursement? Currently is 1 year. I’d like it to kick in within 6 months ideally.

Have any of you thought about parking some of your emergency funds in a muni bond (tax exempt) etf? I have ~1yrs worth of cash in High yield checking/savings accounts (2% interest), but am in the top tax bracket and am worried about the tax drag.
