Don't do it for big corporates recruiters don't read them in big tech (they just want to up their numbers so they care about stats)

Smaller firms might (as hiring managers sometimes like to read them if no HR to filter it)

Got it this was the answer I was looking for, thanks MC1

I got an interview, didn’t write a cover letter

This makes me think that they're not going to look at a cover letter if I write one. People who were successful at getting interviews, did you write a cover letter?
I don't want to waste my time if it's not necessary

Referral is more useful than cover letter. Tech industry generally doesn’t care about cover letter, more on your past experiences

Yoy won't get an interview if you simply apply online - cover letter or not. You'll need a referral.

I’m a midlevel Big Law associate applying for in-house positions that ask for experience drafting and negotiating agreements. I have negotiated a few agreements, but I am light in the area, though I have the substantive knowledge and I’m comfortable marking up agreements. If asked about my negotiation experience in an interview, I plan to talk about the agreements I have negotiated and some of the issues that came up. How would you recommend I talk about my negotiation skills in an interview?

McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Had my final Bain & Company not too long ago for experienced consultant. Unfortunately was not offered a full time position. Bummer. Cases & math didn’t seem too hard, but hindsight is 20/20. Need to focus on driving forward. Spoke with recruiter at McKinsey & Company for Associate, but didn’t make it to interview phase. Not sure why. Applied to Boston Consulting Group, but got an automated rejection. Brutal out here! Previous big4 consulting experience. Referrals welcomed & appreciated.

Interviewing for L&E in house position for lateral move. Posting also says I would be advising on IP and M&A. I have experience in the 10 other or so areas they want that are all employment related. I don’t know if they’re holding out for a unicorn candidate, or I am missing something. I don’t know any L&E attys who have IP or M&A experience. Is there an employment law component to these practice areas? And do I just say I have zero experience? The position is a solid fit for me otherwise.
