Maybe this is partner dependent but.. partners and senior associates usually tell me when my work product needs to be fixed. But sometimes I never hear back about my work product. Bad? Or does it mean that my work was fine?

How do you deal with partners being annoyed or mad at you? I’m a first year on my first big urgent case where I’m managing/juggling most of the work (for reference there are about 8 seniors and I’m the only junior). It’s been two weeks of hell. Partner is upset that I didn’t get documents out fast enough to him to send to the client today. It seems small, but still feels like shit. He’s usually very patient, but just got annoyed with me today.

I’ve been told I am a good candidate for early promotion this year but my interests are more closely aligned with a different practice. My managers have not been supportive of my interest in exploring project work in other groups and so attempting to make the switch would be giving up on my chances for promotion this year. Making the switch has proven difficult for others in the past. I don’t want to play both sides or end up with nothing at EOY. Anyone have thoughts on how to navigate?

HR experts- what are your thoughts about someone who is on a performance plan going to a competitor, when they already have a non-compete in place? Is this okay since they would be exiting org anyways?

been in industry (small companies) for 5 years with an active CPA. Wanted to get in SEC reporting roles but almost every company requires 2-year public accounting exp. Now applying for public accounting firms entry level positions but almost all firms HR asked if I had ever worked in firms. Got rejection emails from firms all the time. Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?
