Is three months in as an associate too early to tell that this ain’t it? It’s certainly not the “I’m super motivated and interested in what I do” and is more so “this is a means to an end and finances my life.” Just feels like a weird time, and I realize I’m experiencing the realities of how work has changed post pandemic. I recruited for this before Covid in 2019, had the internship cancelled 2020 summer so I never got to get my feet wet, and then did a Masters because offerees were expected to

What's your yard stick to make sure you don't come across too casual in a professional setting? In conversations, especially in office parties, networking chats, team building etc.

I seem to have lost touch with this due to covid and extended remote working.. I'm very guarded now and when I do make friendly comments, I immediately overanalyze and regret it. Happened recently with a partner.

People who crib about Deloitte has no WLB, either don't know how to work efficiently or don't know how to deal with their managers(micro managers or unrealistic target).
Work will be more compared to other firms, but people need to learn how to manage expectations, the flexibility Deloitte gives(even before covid), and you can easily balance out your life.
It's just that you can never stick to traditional 9-6 working hours if you need wlb.

I am struggling. My mom lives with hubby and I. She and he have issues. Mom is mad at hubby and me bc we don’t want my bipolar (untreated) sister around for the holidays, and my mom’s behavior is like a bad roommate (fueling hubbys stress levels so much so he thought he was having a cardiac event). December feels like a country song. Two dogs died on the 1st. A hard rain exposed latent roof damage and collapsed ceiling in two rooms. Stove, fridge and water heater all went out on the same day last week. Yesterday my spouse said they needed a break from the chaos through the holidays and left. Today a positive covid test. And 7 deals trying to close before year end requiring my full attention so none of the aforementioned can get any attention.
