YoE : 8 Yrs
Qualifications : B.Com (Hons.) M.Com CA Inter and Currently pursuing MBA (Finance) thru' distance mode.
I have hands on experience in Book Keeping, Vetting of PO's , Vendor Payments, Bank Reconciliation, Payroll Processing and GST Returns filing.

I’m working for a staffing firm that specializes in placing Finance+Accounting candidates on the client side. I’m curious from others in similar fields, how long did it take to build a book of business and start making commission?! This is my first sales job and although the training was pretty extensive, I’m having a hard time gaining traction. I feel like no one answers me! Any suggestions? What’s worked for you? What hasn’t? How do you make sure you stand out?

I'm doing my internship at Simon-Kucher (4 months), and love the job I do. However, the super long working hours (like 14 hours/day) is killing me, and gives me no space to improve myself or even reading a book. Now, I'm offered an internship role, including a full-time job offer, from P&G's Finance department. Though I'm not a fan of finance, P&G is also a good company despite the lower salary and offers me a nice career path. What do you think?

What companies are holding (in their BS) the debt to finance the 2020-2021 boom for used RVs, used light aircrafts, luxury cars (used cars in general), used boats, art, etc.

Typically these type of loans are securitized and sold to 401k/mutual fund investments. However, that is not always the case (e.g. Carvana). I also heard yesterday from finance expert that BOA holds all loans thry issued.

Any companies in the industries above that are holding 2020-2021 financing in their books?

Just took a role focused on M&A strategy.

My M&A and finance backgrounds aren't the strongest, but they hired me for my strategy and technical background, assuming I can get up to speed on the rest.

I’m an FA within the bank channel and have made the mistake of leaving my first firm to go to another. bank program that ended up failing and sold our books to another firm. It’s become harder and harder to grow a book now within the bank channel because of Reg BI and it’s going to take me a decade to grow my book to where I want to be. I’m a CFP and finishing up my MBA. I’m thinking of going to another area of Finance all together like PE. Any suggestions for me? NOT looking to go Independent.

Underrated books for future finance professionals? It seems like social media always tries to push the same old 50 business/finance books that everyone seems to have in their house now. I’ve done my research and have gone to bookstores, so I’m interested in a few that I hadn’t heard of before. I’m just wondering what may be a must-have.

Anyone in sales/finance have any tips on overcoming the nerves when pitching and presenting to clients? Would love to hear some of your practices and/or books to read to foster personal sales growth.

Has any one booked any FD via platforms like Groww, ETmoney which gives slightly high interest rates? In Groww, Bajaj finance giving fd rate of 7-7.5percent. Is it safe? Or should we book via banks and take lower rates.
P.s- I do invest in Mutual funds. I just want to park some money hence looking for FD.

Partners - I'm (SM5) an introvert and struggle to connect with people sometimes. Especially when I don't see them much (thanks covid) and don't work with them much. I want to build connections with like VP finance or the CFO on my job but I work mostly with the controllers (whom I have good connections with). I find it awkward to call people who I don't work directly much without out of the blue to do coffee or lunch.

Any tips or advice on how to build these connections? Any podcast or books

After many years of doing purely corporate law, I recently moved inhouse to do structured finance. Honestly, I am in unknown territories. My boss also not patient about my re-learning process yet they knew from the interview that I know close to nothing about structured finance. I am 2 months into my 6 months probation period and I am worried that I might have bit more than I can chew. FYI - I am doing all I need to do to learn (books) but still struggling. Any pointers on how to get it faster.

What courses would you recommend (or avoid) to improve my overall management skills? I am reading books, articles and my company provides me with a career coach. I am 38, and don't really want to go back to school. I have my BS in Psychology, but am a Director in Finance. Don't necessary want the cost that comes with an MBA.

Does anybody work in a rule for a litigation finance or legal funding company who doesn't hail from a big law firm in background? Basically I have a lot of interest in the area have read a book about it in my free time and was wondering what sort of entry level opportunities I should be seeking.

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical

Are there any books/blogs etc that I can read to understand project finance and M&A deals? My background is project development and just now lateraled to a team dealing with PF/M&A and am entirely clueless. Any tips to build knowledge?

Are there options trading coaches or mentors? I’ve done well in stocks trading, have basic knowledge of derivatives from the BComm in Finance and various books/online resources.
But I feel like I’m really lost in the actual practical aspect of options trading and would love to learn directly from someone who’s experienced and successful in it. Preferably someone who’s smart about risk-minimizing strategies.
