John Deere Financial was a great company to work for until you take their Voluntary Separation package & leave the company. After 24 yrs at the company, was ghosted by HR when I had questions about the package. No exit interview. Just an email letting me know to turn in my work equipment or face having to pay for it. Treated like garbage by management. The pandemic lead the organization to offer the packages & they threatened layoff if packages not taken by employees. Horrible experience

Are company layoffs good or bad for business for the people who's jobs are staying? My company of about 200 people just let 15 people go. Is this a good sign or bad sign? I'm 27F with about 5 years experience at this company. Does this lead to more room for growth at this stage of my career or is this a red flag?

What are the odds that I’ll be allowed to WFH after completing my FLDP (the undergraduate kind, not the MBA kind)? I know people always say you’re more valuable to the company after you finish these programs but do I have enough leverage to do this (and not get fired, haha)?

Extremely toxic work environment & interviewing for other jobs. Would you 1) risk being fired (unsure when) or 2) quit/give notice and risk not having an offer fast enough? My finance is set and I’m primarily concerned about professional reputation. Somewhat unsure what to say to interviewers with whom I already started the process, though the real reason is role is nothing like advertised worsened by diff personalities… What would you do?

How often do you switch jobs? I was in a job for 10+ years, got layoff, then switched to another one for 1 year (left due to company instability) and landed on my current job (a start-up). I think it finally hits me hard on my pay cut and am thinking if it’s a good time to look for another job now. With 2 short-term jobs (both for 1 year) would that really hurt me when I go on interviews?

. Hey ya’ll. Need advice. I was part of recent layoffs. I’ve been asked to return. Same pay and I will not be eligible for raises since the role is new. I’m also now an IC instead of a leader of leaders. My goal is to get to VP in the next two years. I’ve also had some great interviews and expect offers next week. I have until Tuesday to decide. For those that are thinking of moving to new jobs. Are you worried about moving to a new company and being laid off? With the economy the way it is and rumors of lay offs this is something that makes me think twice about leaving. I am aware that it can happen at my current company but it's it more likely to be laid off first in a new company?

Just began a new job at JPMC, & i’m very confused. I don’t want to get fired for doing nothing but they’ve literally delegated me no tasks so far. My days consist of meet & greets and meetings that i just sit in for. I have like 5 hours each day of completely nothing. I come from a very busy company so it confused me to have so much free time. my colleagues are always trying to get me to hang in the cafe or etc and it just feels wrong &I’ve been having to schedule my own training with teammates

Work Two Jobs: I’m about to accept an offer from another Bank, could I hypothetically work at my current bank until they realize that I’m simply not working enough/ doing anything and eventually severance me? I would meet 100% of my obligations at my new shop, and just not do anything with my old one.

What are the most persuasive arguments or phrases to use when negotiating a higher severance? A friend was recently let go from their job and does have some leverage in the form of knowing some things the firm has done that are allegedly illegal/would run afoul of regulators, but prefers not to get a lawyer involved to negotiate on their behalf or sue.

We have a big project going on and I am the only point person(initiate it, did lot of work, and knows the deets well), seems like my mgr wants to get a headcount. But I want to use this opportunity to get promoted, how can I get this across? Mgr is new(they fired my old mgr), mgr’s mgr is new too(re-org). So not sure if I should/can make a case, or how.

Has anyone else found HR timelines to be a crawl during all of this year? Top 5 bank or smaller bank, it’s totally glacial pace, it doesn’t matter.

I try to normally be engaged and quick with stuff client side or internal stuff but it truly blows my mind how slow HR is on things. Like if I was to be this slow client side, I’d be fired.

Three months have passed now and got an offer from back office position from another EU investment bank.
Though i want to continue seeking front office position, no pipeline anymore now.
Should I accept this offer?
