As a Cyber guy, I would just hack the sensor inputs and sit on the couch eating Doritos. š
Itās (stationery) biking. I mean there isnāt a professional biking competition not rigged with steroid-laden athletes.
Sounds about right to me.
Some people are actually just that good at it. Not peloton, but my entire family went to a spin class together once. My dad had never done it before and ended up demolishing the entire class, including people who did the classes nearly everyday. He just turned the resistance up as far as it could go. His score was 3x higher than mine and Iām pretty athletic.

Some cheat, some just go all out, and remember the heavier you are the more power you put in so a higher output is possible. Do power zone classes to know your own level.
My pet peeve is the folks in a class with zero output. Racking up the class count by just leaving the monitor on and walking away? Why?
Rising Star
I had zero output today. My bike didnāt recognize any of my metrics.

Cheating definitely takes the fun away. I am excited to get my peloton next month. Pedal on!

Curious but what do you class as rigging? Iāve seen some phenomenal athletes post some really serious output numbers on there and I mean sustained 300+ watts. Iām 265lbs and do a lot of powerlifting (or I used to before Covid...) so I can average 250 watts on a short ride and hit 600+ output for a good period if I want to. This looks freakish to my wife but wouldnāt even get me near the start line to anyone who was a serious cyclist.
I havenāt done Peloton but Iāve been a category 3 competitive cyclist for years and train with power. The difference between my power and the next category up is pretty big. And then someone with serious talent comes along and their power is eye-popping. Watts are a funny thing!

There are some with incredible work ethic, talent and determination. There are also some that cheat. Iām proud when I finish in the top 25%. Itās a 75, a passing grade.
Improperly calibrated bikes
People recalibrate their bikes to get a higher output, āriggingā the bike. The āhere nowā riders are shown at where they are in the ride, so some of the people with 200+ output when you start may just be at the end.

The graphic shows where they are...and turns to a check when they are done.
Lol such clown behavior

I never use the LB, I set it to just see me vs my best at that ride length. Or sometimes I sort yo other people in my actual demographic.

Omg Iāve noticed that too. Iām usually in the top 40-50% and Iāve always wondered how people get such high numbers. I feel like itās people that arenāt necessarily following class instruction and just trying to beat their personal times so probably put the resistance way up and just pedal their little hearts out

Again, try power zones. It comes up on your screen once you take the fit test and then instead of the instructor calling out ā70-80 cadence, 45-55 resistance,ā which might be easy for you out your max effort, they say āgo to your zone 4ā and then everyone in the class is working the same.
Itās like tonight, Ben Alldis said āhit 150 output!ā And Iām like, dude, if I hit 150 output Iāll need defibrillation. My āmax all out climbā output is like 135 and my average is 113.
When I first got my peloton, the metrics were messed up. It often spiked the cadence and said I was pedaling at 180+ cadence for sustained periods (when I was going like 80). I would likely finish 1st in each class I did...obviously not earned. I ended up having a defective bike and peloton gave me a new one š¤·š»āāļø now Iām in to 25-30% of each class, my husband usually higher than that. Some bikes are just calibrated easier too.
