When it comes to talking salary during the interview process. I know people say to let them make the first offer. But when that happens do you still try to negotiate up?

$1.5M client and new “profitability tool” showing %0 profit. Credit split 50/50 btw 20 year attorney/equity partner (JEP) and a much more senior/connected EP (SEP). Both SEP and JEP developed separate workstreams unrelated to the other. SEP‘s was terminated 3 years ago and only accounts for $200K trail off of the $1.5M. SEP’s salary is 3 times JEP’s. Profitability tool “costs” are not transparent, suspect SEP’s high salary is a factor. Anything (other than typical overhead) to ask about?

Hey guys! Currently in WM ops at Morgan Stanley for the past 1 year dealing with alternative lending, I’m super underpaid with 3 years of experience which is very frustrating. (73k). Have been at Morgan for 1 year and looking to come over to JPM for an ideal pay bump, but would like to get into IB type roll. Any insight on what I should expect or how to go about applying? My husband's sister is facing criminal court for abusing her daughter. She deserves to serve serious jail time for what she has done and shows zero remorse. Is it wrong if I testify against her in court? I realize this is super difficult for my husband as this is his only sister and they were very close growing up. But I also know that he wants what's best for our niece. I want to be sensitive to his feelings but also believe that my niece deserves justice and that her abuser should be punished.
