#Rant The way people are running after big money (not a bad thing) and being encouraged to do so (literally, 2-3 yoe earning more than 25L) is just sad tbh. There will be a time any amount of money will be less because of this inflation. And people will just be after switching companies instead of learning and contributing (cracking an interview doesn't in anyway show your expertise)

Just got a rejection after a final round interview for a company and role I was really interested in. Feeling sad and dejected, and thinking about going through a whole interview process from scratch with other companies feels overwhelming. :( I was also hoping to secure something by end of September as that’s when my lease ends and I’m looking to relocate to a different city, so the time pressure and uncertainty is killing me. Just need some positivity.

I used to be in consulting but moved over to social impact two years ago. I found out I’m getting laid off EOM due to budget cut and I’m really sad. I really don’t have the motivation to apply for new roles, interview etc when usually I actually love that process. Also my role was well paid for nonprofit sector and looking at other roles in the space makes me realize I’m not going to get close to the same salary again. Considering consulting again but loved this job 1000% more. Advice?

I’m in a process for customer engineer at Google Cloud. Already had role related, GCA, presentation and Googliness/leadership interviews. Recruiter got back a couple of days after and scheduled the 1st team introduction last week. I have the second one next Tuesday. Does it mean I got “approved” by the HC and now it’s a matter of finding the right team? Could it end up on a sad “we didn’t find a perfect fit this time”? What are your thoughts?

I was finally received an offer my dream position and I am thrilled but the on boarding process will be delayed by 6 months. However, I also applied for the same position two years ago and was rejected. This time around, I reached out to an internal contact who helped me get an interview. I am kicking myself for not reaching out sooner, two years ago. really sad about it.

Venting: I just went through rounds and rounds of interviews with a company. It was going really well, like I nailed each one of them. They asked me to do an assignment to which I said yes (I know but I wanted the job!) and I spent days working on it. Then crickets. Few days later “sorry but we’re changing our focus to a new role”. I feel angry, deflated.. sad. It seems on here that it’s easy for everyone to get the job. I’m always the number two candidates or *poof* the role disappears.

SERIOUS OPINIONS ONLY: mgmt consultants - how do we do so so good at solving BIG problems for clients - sometimes whether they want to buy this firm or not or generally how they should transform to serve customers that spans triple digits.. yet I feel myself completely broken applying any of my skills to my personal life.. I got questioned today, “you are a big consultant, yet your professional background doesn’t add up to how you execute personally” - and I realized it’s true..seriously sad

Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!

How has your experience been with the friendliness of interviews? Is it easy to connect or does it feel like a transaction (question then answer). Have they been friendly overall or hard to read? I’m really sad over two bad interviews and I don’t know if it’s me not being engaging enough or just the style of the interview :(

Cold applied for an awesome role, had an interview with hiring manager, recruiter, and given a pretty hefty assignment that I’m really proud of nailing. They followed up with an email asking for 4-5 days that I am available for a full day of interviews. Gave them 4-5 days, started planning for how I’d get those days off work during insane times at current job, and now not a single word from them to confirm a date. Been over a week now. Sad. Pretty jaded. What can I do? Already followed up

Low key sad situation but I’m pretty extroverted and have been at my parents place since March and have no friends here, and I literally get in a better mood after doing expert interviews because I’m having a deep 1:1 conversation with someone 😐

After 3 months of applying I some how got an interview with a well known growing tech start up! Interviewed and got an offer this week. Unfortunately the offer is lower than my current comp with 1 yoe but it gets me out of tech consulting/compliance and into a pretty interesting product facing role! A bit sad about a lower comp but also pretty pumped about pivoting career paths so early and getting to work in product! Hope this “success” helps motivate some of y’all who might feel down!
