Best time to leave EY? To make sure I am eligible for promotion progression in other big4 as well in the upcoming year, and if possible I get the hike bonus in EY as well?

How does everyone feel about "trial runs" instead of being given an actual promotion? Basically, doing the job for 3 months and if it doesn't work out, you go back to your old role. But the role you are doing as a trial has far more pressure and responsibility than your previous role. I'm really trying to gauge how I should feel about this and if this is common.
