Joined as staff 2 in Forensics in March. Was on a small project for 2 weeks before COVID happened. Was on the bench for few weeks (asked around but market was slow) because the next project got pushed back due to remote work. Last feedback cycle ended with only 1 feedback for that small project. Now full-time on this new project and helping out with COVID-related work, but still very worried about my promotion to senior in October.

Handing in my notice this week but I don’t have a new position lined up and I’ve only been at my firm for a couple of months. Pretty nervous about how the partners are going to react. Any advice?

Do companies weigh certs more than hands-on experience? (ie: open source contributions, projects, etc) Asking b/c I'm joining big 4 in cyber and wanted to know whether I should prioritize certs over developing my skillet through projects? Thanks

I have a side business and I generated 200K net profit from it this year. I expect to have a slightly higher profits in 2021. I also make around 200K including bonus from my job.

We are also expecting our third kid and it still feels very hard to give up on our health insurance and security of the pay check. Because of that, I can’t focus on growing my own business.
